Admins can use exits too. Create a separate employee portal account for yourself, then open the employee portal. Admin-console credentials are intentionally reserved for infrastructure control.
Send the employee the portal URL and temporary password through an approved company channel.
Add an office laptop
- Install Ubuntu Desktop and connect office Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- Keep the LTE modem unplugged during setup.
- Run the command below as an administrator.
- Approve the pending laptop from the Laptops page.
- Confirm DNS readiness on the Service readiness page before enabling mesh-dependent proxies.
Generate a short-lived installer command first.The generated command expires after two hours. It installs or repairs SORS, joins Headscale, installs MeshCentral, and starts the watchdog. New laptops remain pending until an admin approves them.
Proxy prerequisite: private SOCKS5 and HTTP CONNECT listeners require the laptop to be enrolled in Headscale/Tailscale. Evaluation credentials are shown from the employee portal.
Office checklist
1Use office internet for installation and package downloads.
2Plug in LTE only after the laptop appears online.
3Use LTE protection before enabling mobile traffic.
4Run public-IP verification for each reported path.
